The Golden Age is a 40-volume comic-book series about the entire life of Lord Chaitanya Mahaprabhu, the incarnation of Lord Krishna who appeared 500 years ago to establish the chanting of the names of God as the religion for this age. The series is based primarily on Bhaktvinoda Thakura's book Sri Navadvipa-dhama Mahatmya.
The title of this book refers to the present age, in which Lord Chaitanya inaugurated the sankirtana movement the movement for chanting the names of God just over five hundred years ago. The Brahma-vaivarta Purana states that within Kali-yuga, the current age, there will be a ten-thousand-year period in which chanting the holy names of God will flourish. By the power of the holy name the whole world will become purified and love for God will awaken, enabling all living entities to go back home, back to Godhead.
Although The Golden Age is presented in the format of a comic book, it is not a work of fantasy or imagination. It is a true history based on authoritative scripture such as Sri Navadvipa-dhama Mahatmya, Chaitanya Charitamrita, and Chaitanya Bhagavata, which have been revealed by liberated devotees of Krishna such as Srila Bhaktivinoda Thakura, Srila Krishna Dasa Kaviraja and Srila Vrindavana Dasa Thakura.
This second volume relates two stories. The first is the story of young Nimai (Chaitanya) and His puppy; the second describes the discovery of the birthplace of Lord Chaitanya by Bhaktivinoda Thakura.
