About
Japa is a spiritual discipline involving the repetition of a prayer, or mantra, usually spoken softly, enough for the practitioner to hear. These recordings feature japa of the Hare Krishna Maha-mantra chanted by His Divine Grace A.C. Bhaktivedanta Swami Prabhupada, the Founder-Acharya of the International Society for Krishna Consciousness.
Great for playing in the background during japa meditation sessions, or anytime you'd like to spiritualize an environment with sacred sound vibration. "Group Japa" has Srila Prabhupada chanting with devotees in a large temple room. A Shenai variation adds the melodic sounds of an Indian woodwind instrument thought to create auspiciousness, often heard during prayer times in Mayapur, India, the holy land of Sri Chaitanya Mahaprabhu. Japa by Example is Srila Prabhupada chanting japa on beads prior to an initiation ceremony. He's chanting slower and more articulated, as if to teach the new devotees how to chant.
