“Has words of wisdom in his beard... listen!”
Part of a collection of HAPPY ROCKS, Portable Chunks of Optimism, hand-made by Krishna devotee artist Haydn Larson, a.k.a. Adideva Das, a disciple of Srila Prabhupada. In his youth, Adideva helped create the FATE Museum diorama sculptures in Los Angeles and Detroit, illustrating the philosophy of the Bhagavad-gita. Now he lives with his wife Siladitya in the Alachua, Florida Hare Krishna community, where he continues to pursue his passion for sculpting objects large and small, from portable “Changing Bodies” exhibits to these Happy Rocks. (Be sure to search our store for the other Happy Rocks in this collection. They’re quite something!)
Each Happy Rock comes with an embedded wire loop on the back, can be hung on a wall, or placed as a decorative item on your altar, desk, fireplace mantle, bookshelf or anywhere around your home or office.
Some people keep them on the dashboards of their cars for good luck. Some place them in between plants in their garden, or among potted plants indoors. Devotees of Krishna train themselves to try to see Krishna’s presence everywhere, manifested through his variegated energies. He resides as Supersoul in every atom. And for a devotee, Krishna can manifest even in what appears to be an ordinary rock.
There’s a long tradition, in India, of worshiping forms of Krishna in the shape of sacred rocks, called “Shalagram”. Adideva’s sculpted Happy Rocks follow in that ancient tradition, serving to remind us of Krishna and His devotees.
Created in clay then cast in crushed stone. Comes with a soft, velvet, pull-string pouch.
Weight: 2.6 oz. Dimensions: 1.5" wide, 3" tall, 1" deep.
Note: Because each of these happy rocks is individually hand made and hand-painted by the artist himself, Adideva, the colors depicted in the product photo may vary slightly from the actual piece you receive.
