About
Every year after the Gaura Purnima festival in Mayapur, India, devotees embark and a spiritual safari led by Jayapataka Swami. Each year the destination is different: temples of South India, peaks of the Himalayas, sacred sites along the banks of the Ganges, or many temples of Lord Nrisimha.
This book takes the reader on a journey to these many sacred sites and temples visited during four safaris: the 2003 Ganga safari, the 2004 Nrisimha safari, the 2005 North India safari, and the 2006 South India safari.
Starting with the Ganga safari, Teja Gaurangi Devi Dasi, the author, describes a day-to-day account of this spiritual journey. She beautifully describes each sacred site and temple, along with its history and the pastimes associated with it. This safari journal also describes many adventures the devotees experienced while traveling by bus, train, and boat throughout India.
Each safari is a pilgrimage, an opportunity to visit the holy sites sacred to Vaishnavas, associate with devotees from around the world, and participate in the many harinamas and preaching programs held throughout the tour.
