Beads are used for meditating and chanting the Hare Krishna mantra. The strand consists of one hundred and eight individually hand-carved, smooth beads made of the wood from a sacred Tulasi plant.
These beads are about 34" long (or about 68" around). Exact length varies 3-5" because of bead size. The beads are up to .75" in diameter each.
Made in India...
Tulasi is a soft, fibrous wood that is susceptible to moisture and temperature damage. These beads can warp and crack if exposed to humidity, water, or a lot of direct heat and sunlight. It is popular for user to oil their Tulasi beads prior to use, and to keep them clean and dry. Vaisnavas also respect their japa mala beads and do not take them into environments such as restrooms. Traditionally, they are kept and used in a japa bag, also available.
