Every day Krishna, Balarama, and all the cowherd boys would take the cows and calves to graze on Govardana hill.
In the evening they would return to Vrindavana, where all the gopis waited to greet them. In this painting Krishna, playing his flute, and Balarama, holding his plow, enter Vrindavana with the cows and calves.
Each cow is decorated with jewels, peacock feathers and red hand prints.
