Kantha is an ancient art form from the north of India. Two completely different patterns of silk fabric, traditionally taken from saris, are hand sewn together with brightly colored embroidery thread to create a shawl that has a handcrafted style.
Vibrantly colored silks are hand sewn together with brightly colored embroidery thread, creating an original style you are sure to love. This hand-craftedKantha-style wrap makes a great gift.
One side of the wrap is a rich saffron-orange printed with tiny elephants, peacocks, and flowers. The other side is a soft pink printed with subtle red and green designs. The yellow and black stitching across this wrap contrasts dramatically with the two prints, enhancing the handcrafted style. The hand-stitched thread ends in a short fringe.
The stitching gives the fabric a puckered texture, a distinctive feature of the Kantha style. The soft silk has a wonderful drape. Colorful silk and a hand-crafted style make this wrap a dramatic accessory.
Approximately 32" x 86". Made from 100% silk with cotton stitching. Hand wash or dry-clean only. Handmade in India.
