The Gosvamis of Vrindavana

By O.B.L. Kapoor

Vrindavana has always been a sacred site for Vaishnavas. At the time of Lord Chaitanya more than 500 years ago Vrindavana was a forest, the sacred sites of Krishna's pastimes hidden and lost.

Lord Chaitanya sent His followers, the Gosvamis, to Vrindavana with the instructions to find the holy sites connected with the pastimes of Krishna. In Vrindavana the Gosvamis built temples, ponds, groves, and bathing-areas (ghats) along the bank of the Yamuna, and wrote extensively about Lord Krishna and Bhakti yoga.

This book describes the lives of fourteen Gosvamis, including Lokanatha, Sanatana, Rupa, and Jiva.

Hardbound, 309 pages, dust-jacket, 5.5" x 8.5". First published 1995. Printed in India.
